May: City Council and Mayor

While not directly responsible for education policy or education funding, the City Council and Mayor have critical roles in supporting student success.

The Mayor and City Council are responsible for the safety of our children from the time they leave home and arrive at the school grounds. They also provide after school recreation programs.

The Mayor and City Council work with Board of Education and the State Superintendent to agree on sites for new schools.

On May 13, 2008 all six City Council ward seats were decided.
